Growing Together
Communities with greater control of their agricultural production can better ensure the nutritional well being of its members. Agricultural projects also provide new income generating and leadership opportunities. Peacework has worked to establish successful school gardens in Pomona, Belize as part of the U of A’s Village Network Initiative and with partners in Vietnam on developing models for sustainable school farms.

Peacework School Garden and Farm Projects
Many students currently do not get enough food to stay healthy and alert for school. A feeding program fuled by a school garden
would have incredible impact on these students’ ability to learn!
Managing the garden as an educational tool will ensure that more
members of the community know how to grow their own food.

Community Highlight: Santa Familia
Principal Antonia Flowers of Santa Familia primary school. Dream: to transform land into an educational nature center highlighting a variety of plants and trees indigenous to Belize; cultivate a garden that would provide agricultural education to students while supplementing a school feeding program.
